I’m thrilled to offer this bonus post for my paid subscribers! THANK YOU for your support!

Here we go…

If you’ve ever been told you’re “too direct” or you need to “soften your messaging,” you’re going to love what I’m about to share.

This week’s manager-submitted question…

The Challenge

I just had my mid-year review with my Director and the feedback I got is that I can be too direct and it can be off-putting for people.

I’m struggling with this because no one seems to want to hold others in the business accountable, but when I ask where things are or express worry when we’re off track, it feels like I’m now getting dinged on my review.

Do you have any ideas to help me strike the balance of getting answers while not pissing people off?

Great question!

Yes, let me offer you some ideas and sample language!
